Frequently Asked Questions:
-
Business aviation refers to the operation of aircraft outside scheduled commercial airline service, including chartered flights, corporate aviation, and owner-operated aircraft. When you charter a business jet in Canada, you book the entire aircraft exclusively for your party rather than purchasing seats on a shared flight. This means departure on your schedule, from an FBO (Fixed Base Operator) terminal separate from commercial passenger facilities, with no shared waiting areas or security queues.
For business travelers, business aviation eliminates the productivity and time losses associated with commercial connections, delays, and layovers. ACASS operates business aviation charter services from Montréal and across Canada under its Canadian Air Operator Certificate. All operations are conducted in accordance with applicable Transport Canada regulations and international safety standards, to the same level of rigor as commercial air transport operations, ensuring the highest levels of safety and compliance.
-
A charter operator holds its own Air Operator Certificate (AOC) — a Transport Canada–issued authorization granting the right to operate commercial charter flights. When you charter with ACASS, you are working directly with the organization that operates the aircraft, employs the crew, and is operationally accountable for your flight.
A charter broker, by contrast, arranges flights on behalf of third-party operators without holding any operational authority itself. The operator relationship gives charter clients a single accountable party from booking to landing — the same team manages the aircraft, the crew, safety compliance, and your flight experience. This integrated structure ensures full operational control and oversight throughout every phase of the flight, from planning to execution.
-
On-Demand charter offers complete flexibility, with each flight booked individually and no ongoing commitment. It’s ideal for occasional or variable travel, giving you full control over timing, aircraft selection, and routing from Halifax or any departure city.
For clients who fly more frequently, a Charter Account offers a more streamlined experience, including faster booking and, where applicable, flexible payment arrangements tailored to operational needs. An ACASS charter specialist can help determine the best approach for your travel profile.
-
The two most recognized independent safety certifications in business aviation are IS-BAO and ARGUS Gold. IS-BAO Stage 3 — the highest level of IS-BAO registration — reflects a mature, independently audited Safety Management System held by a select number of operators globally. ARGUS Gold is an independently assessed operator rating covering flight safety, regulatory compliance, and pilot qualifications.
Unlike self-reported operator claims, both certifications require third-party assessment by independent auditors. ACASS holds IS-BAO Stage 3 registration, awarded in 2017, and has maintained ARGUS Gold certification since 2013 — both assessed by independent third parties, not self-reported.
-
Halifax Stanfield International Airport (YHZ) is Atlantic Canada’s primary hub for business aviation, with FBO facilities separate from the commercial terminal, offering direct ramp access and dedicated private departure areas.
ACASS provides business jet charter from Halifax under its Canadian Air Operator Certificate, meaning the aircraft, crew, and flight operations are managed directly by ACASS—not arranged through a broker. Charter clients can contact an ACASS specialist at charter@acass.com to confirm routing, aircraft availability, and any ground or in-flight arrangements.
-
Ultra-long-range jet charter gives business aviation clients access to purpose-designed aircraft for nonstop intercontinental reach. These jets typically fly 6,000 to 8,000+ nautical miles on a single tank, connecting city pairs such as New York to Dubai, London to Singapore, and Los Angeles to Sydney without a fuel stop. Cabins support multi-hour comfort with crew rest areas, full galleys, and work-ready layouts. ACASS charters ultra-long-range jets alongside heavy, super-midsize, and midsize categories, matching the right business jet to each mission profile. Connect with a Specialist to match the right ultra-long-range jet to your mission.
-
Heavy jets and ultra-long-range jets both deliver long-haul business aviation capability, but the two categories serve different missions. Heavy jets offer large cabins and genuine transatlantic range, while ultra-long-range aircraft extend farther with larger fuel capacity, higher-altitude cruise, and purpose-built endurance for the longest city pairs. For transpacific, Asia-to-Americas, or Middle East-to-Americas routings, ultra-long-range is the category built for the trip. When comparing types of business jets, the decision reflects route, payload, and airport constraints rather than cabin size alone. Connect with a Specialist to determine which category is right for your route.
-
To charter a private jet from Toronto clients can rely on, contact ACASS directly to reach a dedicated charter specialist. Provide your departure date, destination, passenger count, and any special requirements such as pets, catering, or ground logistics. Your specialist recommends the right aircraft from the ACASS inventory, confirms availability across the fleet, and issues a complete quote before the booking is confirmed. For Toronto-origin trips, ACASS operates under its Canadian Air Operator Certificate, so the booking is direct. Connect with a Specialist to arrange your Toronto departure.
-
When you charter a private jet, Toronto travelers have two booking structures available through ACASS. On-demand charter is a trip-by-trip arrangement with no ongoing commitment, suited to clients with variable or one-off travel patterns. A Charter Account is a standing relationship for clients with recurring Toronto-origin private jet charter needs, delivering priority aircraft access, a dedicated account manager, and consolidated billing for simplified corporate reporting. Connect with a Specialist to discuss which structure aligns with your travel profile.
-
When you fly private, ACASS opens Canada as a network of airports and routings that commercial airlines cannot serve on your schedule. Flying private means chartering an entire business jet for your exclusive use, where you choose the departure airport, departure time, and destination. You board at a private terminal (FBO) rather than a commercial one. For Canadian charter, ACASS operates under its Canadian Air Operator Certificate, so every Canada-origin booking is handled directly by a regulated ACASS operation, not a brokered arrangement. Connect with a Specialist to begin.
-
To charter a private flight in Canada with ACASS, contact a charter specialist with your itinerary, passenger count, and any preferences for aircraft category or cabin configuration. Your specialist matches the right business jet to your mission across our fleet, which spans midsize, super-midsize, heavy, and ultra-long-range categories from our Montréal world headquarters. A complete quote follows, with no minimum commitment required — on-demand bookings are available trip by trip across Canada. Connect with a Specialist to begin.
-
ACASS is a direct private jet charter operator, not a broker. ACASS holds Air Operator Certificates in Canada, Ireland, and San Marino, which means every charter flight is operated under ACASS’s own regulatory authority rather than arranged through third-party carriers. As the operator of record, ACASS is fully accountable for the safety, crew quality, and operational standards of every flight. ACASS’s IS-BAO Stage 3 certification and ARGUS Gold rating apply to its own operations, not to an external carrier’s. Connect with a Specialist to learn more about ACASS’s charter operations.
-
Yes. Private jet charter in Canada is a core ACASS capability, backed by a Canadian Air Operator Certificate issued in 2004 and a head office in Montréal. ACASS operates charter across Canada and internationally with direct AOC authority in Canada, rather than routing flights through third-party Canadian carriers. Dedicated ACASS account managers handle every aspect of Canadian charter bookings, including aircraft selection, routing, ground logistics, and pre-flight coordination. Connect with a Specialist to discuss your Canadian charter requirements.

l can’t say enough about the comprehensive service, expertise, and value we received from ACASS in the entry into service and management of our Challenger 604.
